Lernhaus 2012

“Women’s House of Learning – qualification as honorary cultural mediator“ started 2012 with the focus on care and work with elderly people, funded by Frauenreferat Frankfurt am Main, Polytechnische Gesellschaft and Stiftung Citoyen.
In the course of this new Lernhaus project, honorary workers who were already active in elderly care and nursing or wanted to get involved in this field, were qualified as cultural mediators.
The project included:

  • Trainings on communication, conflict management, biography work, interculturality etc.
  • Information events on topics like diseases, age, dying in an intercultural context, religion and every day life, gender roles etc.

Goals:

  • to interculturally qualify honorary workers
  • to highten the number of migrant women in the field of civil participation
  • to support institutions of elderly care and nursing in the qualification of honorary workers
  • to improve the quality of care and support for elderly and sick people

The qualification had a duration of one year. It took place in the evenings and on weekends.
